Michigan Apple Pickers Needed

apple treeThough it is seasonal work, the jobs are there.  The Michigan Farm Bureau is scouring the eastern U.S. for help with finding workers to harvest the state’s bumper crop of apples. 

There are about six more weeks for growers to get their apples off the trees and shipped to processors, fresh market retailers or storage.

The immigration crackdown on workers in the country illegally has slowed the traffic of migrant laborers to the state along with last year’s bad weather, which decimated much of Michigan’s orchard fruit crop. The migrant work force found work in other areas of the country few have returned this year.
