Famed Chicago Chef, Charlie Trotter, Dies at 54

The 54-year-old chef was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead after being found by his son Dylan unconscious and not breathing in his Lincoln Park home in Chicago this morning.  The news of his death has shocked not only Chicago but major luminaries in the culinary world.

In January of 2012 Trotter announced that he was closing his restaurant and was returning to college to pursue master’s degree.  His namesake restaurant Charlie Trotters was a destination for foodies and for those wishing to hone their culinary skills under a master.  When Trotter announced that he was closing his restaurant, it was a mad dash to get on an already long waiting list.

Creative genius and skills that Charlie Trotter possessed come only so few in the world of food.
