Bassel Abdul-Amir Saad Arraigned on Second Degree Murder Charge

LIVONIA, MI – Bassel Abdul-Amir Saad fought back tears in a Livonia District Court room basil saadtoday as the charges of felony assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder were dismissed and the charge of second degree murder was leveled against him.

John Bieniewicz, 44 years old, who was punched by 36 year old Bassel Abdul-Amir Saad died from the injuries sustained by Saad during an adult soccer game that was being played in Mies Park in Livonia on Sunday June 29th, 2014.

Bassel Abdul-Amir Saad hung his head in court and his tears became visible during the court proceedings.  His bottom lip quivered as the judge read the charges.  It was very evident that this entire incident has already taken a great toll on Saad.

A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf in the Livonia District Court room by his attorney Brian Berry.

While those court proceedings were taking place, the funeral for John Bieniewicz was preparing to take place in Redford.
