ARMADA, MI – As friends and family gather to honor and pay their respects to April Millsap, authorities from local law enforcement from the Armada Police Department, Michigan State Police, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are on the trail of a killer.
No arrests have been made in the Millsap case at this time, however, the FBI is scouring phone records and they are proving key in the investigation into who killed the 14 year old. April’s phone was recovered at the crime scene. Agents have been studying phone records and multiple text messages that were sent from that phone. The investigative team is “aware of a number of text messages that were sent from April’s phone.”
Authorities executed a search warrant Wednesday afternoon at 8744 Marquette Road in Wales Township, Michigan and would not release any information about the subject of the search, but they did confirm it was related to the murder of April Millsap.
The two men that were arrested in connection to the raid that found an illegal marijuana grow operation in that house and in connection with the murder investigation, will be held another night. They will likely be arraigned Friday on charges related to pot found in the home.
Michigan State Police are cautioning the public not to assume that an arrest has been made in the murder case. They still are asking for tips from anyone with information.
A fund raiser was held last night in Armada for April’s family. A huge turn out showed to listen to music, gather with family and friends and to buy t-shirt’s with a pink ribbon special design on them calling for ‘Justice for April’. Those t-shirts are still available. Organizers posted to Facebook the following information:

Meanwhile, pink ribbons have been tied all around Armada, Michigan in memory and honor of April Millsap. But it is not only Armada that has taken to putting them up.
The people in the villages of Romeo, Richmond and many in other areas such as Port Huron have taken to putting them up also.
This senseless murder has caught the attention of thousands upon thousands of people from across the State of Michigan and the nation.

Armada is a village in Macomb County, Michigan. The population estimate is near 1,700 people. It is located about 35 miles north of Detroit.
You can donate to a Memorial Fund for April Millsap. At this time a total of $13,285 has been raised towards her funeral expenses. Contributions to the family for funeral expenses may also be done at any Fifth Third Bank. Checks may be made to “For the benefit of April Millsap.”
