Two Teens Found Shot and Killed on Detroit’s West Side

DETROIT, MI – Detroit police are asking for the public’s help in solving the 15000 block of Stoepelmurder of two teens on Detroit’s west side on Sunday August 31st, 2014.

The two were found about 3:40 Sunday morning gunned down lying in the roadway on the 15000 block of Stoepel near Pilgrim.  James Smith had just turned 18-years-old on June 23rd, 2014.  Jade Wilson is believed to be somewhere between 18-20 years old.

They both were found to be unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. James and Jade were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police had received calls about gunfire, according to Officer Adam Madera, a department spokesman. Witnesses reported seeing an older model, dark-colored Chevrolet Impala fleeing the scene.

A person close to James provided MI Headlines with further information.  They state that James Smith didn’t have a father figure to tell him right
from wrong or guide him in the right direction.

All he had was his homeboys that got him 10 feet under today.

James just turned 18 years of age June 23, 2014 and lost his life a couple of months after over gun play.

Before James left that Saturday one of his family members told him if he left, he just might not come back this time.  That was a sign but he just didn’t want to see it.

James lost his mother to a car crash so he really didn’t have anyone but his aunt, her grandchildren and other family members that took care of him.

I just hope we can put these murderers behind bars before they hurt anyone else.

A fund has been set up to help with funeral expenses for James.  That information is located here.
