Robin Schwartz Leaves Fox 2 Detroit after 17 Years

SOUTHFIELD, MI – On the heels of the exit of Kam Carman comes the news that Robin Schwartz has also left Fox 2 Detroit.Robin Schwartz

In a post on Fox 2’s website it states that Robin Schwartz is leaving after 23 years in broadcasting and nearly 17 years at Fox 2 to take a job as Director of Public Relations for Bedrock Real Estate Services.  Bedrock Real Estate Services is owned by Dan Gilbert.

Robin posted the following comment to her Facebook page:

What an emotional night! Thank you to Ron and the Fox 2 News weekend team for a wonderful sendoff and an unforgettable 8 years of weekends (out of the last 17 years). Wow.

In a statement posted to Fox 2’s website Schwartz said:

As a TV reporter in Detroit for nearly 17 years, I’ve had a front row seat, covering just about every major development in the city and sharing those stories on the evening news,” Schwartz said. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to focus exclusively on Detroit’s comeback story and to work with the amazing team at Bedrock Real Estate Services making things happen. I believe in Detroit’s future. The momentum is building and I can’t imagine a more invigorating time to be part of it all.

The exodus of the stable of anchors and reporters is quite interesting.  It almost seemed to start with the retirement of long time and very beloved reporter Al Allen when he retired in December of 2013.

In recent months Alexis Wiley, Alan Lee, Ben Baily, Kam Carman and now Robin Schwartz have all exited Fox 2 Detroit.

Alexis Wiley left Fox 2 in January of 2104 to go to work in Mayor Mike Duggan’s administration.

Alan Lee announced at the end of the morning news on July 8th, 2014, that he would be leaving the Fox 2 family to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time author.

Ben Bailey took over for Chuck Gaidica on Channel 4 as Chief Meteorologist.

Kam Carman left Fox 2 on September 30th, 2014 unceremoniously and seemingly very abruptly.

MIHeadlines recently reported that Dave Spencer from Fox 17 Grand Rapids joined the staff at Fox 2.  He made the move to be closer to his family on the eastern side of Michigan.

Times change.  People change.  Management changes. All part of business life and that does include on air anchors, co-anchors and reporters.  It will now be interesting to see who fills the vacated positions at Fox 2 Detroit.

MIHeadlines wishes Robin Schwartz the best in her new endeavor with Bedrock Real Estate Services.
