WJBK FOX2: Anchor/Reporter (Regular.Full-Time)

WJBK’s News Department is seeking an energetic and motivated team player to anchor and report for major-market news show.  This job requires expertise in communicating with a diverse broadcast audience in a concise yet comfortable manner.  Must have a demonstrated proficiency in the use of social media to interact with viewers and expand the reach of our news operation.  Knowledge of the Detroit market a significant plus.  We seek a person with excellent interpersonal skills, on and off air, who is plugged into the community and able to recognize important issues and meaningful developments in continuing stories.  Must be calm in breaking news situations, conversant on a spectrum of topics including hard news, entertainment and popular culture, and a leader in the newsroom.

Other duties as deemed appropriate to be assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.  A journalism background and five years’ television anchoring experience required.  Knowledge of fair and accurate journalism practices a must.

In recent months Alexis Wiley, Alan Lee, Ben Bailey, Kam Carman and Robin Schwartz have all exited Fox 2 Detroit.

Alexis Wiley left Fox 2 in January of 2104 to go to work in Mayor Mike Duggan’s administration.

Alan Lee announced at the end of the morning news on July 8th, 2014, that he would be leaving the Fox 2 family to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time author.

Ben Bailey took over for Chuck Gaidica on Channel 4 as Chief Meteorologist. He left the station on July, 18th, 2014.  He was with the station for 9 years.

Kam Carman left Fox 2 on September 30th, 2014 unceremoniously and seemingly very abruptly.

Robin Schwartz left on October 12th, 2014 to take a job as Director of Public Relations for Bedrock Real Estate Services.  Bedrock Real Estate Services is owned by Dan Gilbert.
