Holiday Safety Tips from Redford Township Police

REDFORD, MI – If you will be gone for an extended time, whether it is a few days, or just several hours, leave some lights on, especially outside, or put them on timers.

Make sure all of your doors and windows are locked and secured. Don’t leave that new laptop or tablet where it can be seen from a window or doorwall while you are gone.

When you put all that extra trash out to the street after Christmas, turn those new TV boxes inside out so the labels can not be seen, or better yet break them down and put them in large black bags.

If you will be gone between Christmas and New Years for a few days, let a trusted neighbor know, tell them what cars will, or might be at your house while you are gone, and what lights you will have on timers or leave on. Ask them to collect your mail or news paper for you. Be careful, Be safe, Be alert.

Happy Holidays from the Redford Township Police Department !!
