Battle Creek Police investigate Kidnapping after Car Chase

BATTLE CREEK, MI – Officers from the Battle Creek Police Department responded to the first block of Fairview Ave. at 1:55 p.m. on December 26th, 2014, to investigate a domestic violence call that involved a kidnapping.police chase

The adult female victim was now safe back at home when officers had learned the suspect entered the victims home illegally leaving with the victim for several hours before returning her to the 100 block of Magnolia street.

The victim had children in the residence during this time who were left unharmed. The victim advised the suspect threatened her with a hand gun and he was currently in possession of the weapon when he dropped her off.

A short time later officers located the suspect vehicle in the area of Fairview and Perry street and attempted get it stopped when a car chase ensued. The chase continued to west bound Dickman road when the suspect drove across the medium into the east bound lane just before attempting a right turn onto Carl Ave.

The suspect struck a station wagon when attempting a turn onto Carl Ave.. The suspect vehicle then continued south on Carl a short distance before getting pitted by a patrol unit. The suspect vehicle was forced into the curb ending the pursuit.

A deputy from the Calhoun County Sheriff department was able to deflate one of the suspect tires during the chase by using Stop sticks. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. No one in the station wagon was was injured.

The suspect was taken to Battle Creek Health System complaining of back pain. A weapon was located in a yard along the path of the car chase and it fit the description of the weapon described by the victim.

The suspect is currently on parole. He is being charged with Felonious Assault, kidnapping, Flee & Elude Police, Felon in possession of a firearm and possibly additional charges as the investigation is ongoing.
