FLINT, MI – On December 30th, 2014 Flint Police received a report of a CSC (Criminal Sexual Conduct) that had just occurred. A 20-year-old suspect, Thomas Jones III, was arrested the same day upon the completion of the initial investigation.
Upon further investigation authorities were able to file multiple charges of CSC for incidents that occurred over several months against two victims.
It is unclear at this time if those involved were minors or if the assaults took place against adult victims.
Jones was charged and arraigned on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 for 11 counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st Degree.
A heated debate broke out on social media concerning the posting of information with this case. Some believe that once the information was posted on Facebook that it has tainted several potential jurors before the case even gets into the courtroom for trial.
The police department and the prosecutor’s office often hold press conferences to talk about cases and charges.
In the state of Michigan it becomes public information once a subject has been arraigned on charges. Social media is just another way for Flint Police to communicate with the public and keep them informed.
