St. Clair County driver injures 3 Children in Mobile Home Park

COTTRELLVILLE TOWNSHIP, MI – Three pedestrians were injured, two seriously, when a car driven by a 64-year-old Marine City man struck them on Monday afternoon January 12th, pedestrian accident

According to St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon, the man was driving westbound on Paradise Blvd. in the Shangri La Mobile Home Park about 2:45 p.m.

As he approached the intersection of Willow Street, he sideswiped a car driven by 59-year-old Thomas Schindler of Marine City. The 64-year-old man’s car bounced off and struck three children who were along the roadway. The car continued on, struck a boulder and rolled on its side.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of the crash, along with Marine City Fire and Rescue and Tri-Hospital EMS. Two boys, ages 11 and 13 that resided in the park were transported to St. John’s River District Hospital. They were then taken to Children’s Hospital in Detroit with unconfirmed injuries. A 17-year-old boy who was struck did not require hospitalization.

The 64-year-old man was transported to River District Hospital, where he was treated and released. Schindler was not injured in the crash.

The St. Clair County Sheriff Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene of the crash. Following the investigation, a request to charge the driver with reckless driving causing serious injury is expected to be forwarded to the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office.
