Semi Broadsides Vehicle in Pontiac

PONTIAC, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of S. Telegraph Rd and Voorheis Rd. at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8th, 2016.fatal crash

A 2010 Chevrolet Express van driven by a 52 year old man resident from Waterford Township was traveling eastbound on Voorheis Rd and was struck broadside by a 2005 Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling north on Telegraph Rd. The driver and his passenger of the Chevrolet Express van, a 27 year old man who is a resident of White Lake Township, were seriously injured.  Deputies requested assistance from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.

The occupants of the Chevrolet Express van were extricated by firefighters from the Waterford Regional Fire Department and transported to McLaren Hospital – Oakland.

The driver is listed in guarded condition and the passenger is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Freightliner was not injured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

The crash remains under investigation.
