Two Injured in Cass County Crash

POKAGON TOWNSHIP, MI – Sheriff Joseph M Underwood Jr. reports that on Friday, March 11th, 2016, at 2:10 p.m., his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred in Pokagon Township at the intersection of M51 and Peavine St. accident

Troy Duis, 34-years-old, of  Niles, was driving a motorcycle south bound on M 51.

Alexis Chorba, 16-years-old, of Dowagiac, was at the intersection waiting to turn North bound onto M 51 Hwy. Chorba did not see the Motorcycle that was coming South bound on M 51 and proceeded into the intersection. Mr. Duis could not evade the vehicle and hit the Chorba vehicle. Mr. Duis was transported to Memorial Hospital by Air Care Ambulance where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

Ms. Chorba was transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac for minor injuries.

Mr. Davis was not wearing a Helmet and it is believed that Ms. Chorba was wearing her seatbelt.

Alcohol use is unknown at this time. This case remains under investigation.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were Pokagon Fire Department, Pride Care Ambulance, Air Care air Ambulance, Pokagon Tribal Police department and Dowagiac City Police department.
