CHEBOYGAN, MI – A Cheboygan County man is under arrest after a lengthy investigation by the Michigan State Police.
A 75-year-old Cheboygan man, Dr. Jerome Siudara, was arrested on charges of second degree murder and involuntary manslaughter from his wife’s death in 2014. Elizabeth Siudara died in August of 2014.
Siudara was taken into custody on Thursday, March 17th, 2016.
The Cheboygan County prosecutor’s office states Dr. Siudara is accused of prescribing his wife numerous pills, which ultimately caused her death.
The complaint filed by the Cheboygan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office asserts that Dr. Siudara was prescribing the pills in a wanton and willful disregard for Elizabeth Siudara’s well-being and that his prescribing and dispensing of the pills to her was done in a grossly negligent manner.
“After a year and a half long investigation by Michigan State Police, led by Detective Rich Rule, I feel confident there is enough evidence to charge this case,” said Prosecuting Attorney Vizina.”
He’s being held on a $500,000 bond.
Dr. Siudara’s pretrial is scheduled for March 24.
He was arraigned on Friday, March 18th, 2016, in Charlevoix County District Court.
Elizabeth M. Siudara, 60-years-old, of Cheboygan, died Saturday, August 30th, 2014 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. She had been a resident of Cheboygan since 1977.
Dr. Siudara was an Obstetrician-Gynecologist in the Cheboygan area.
