CLYDE TOWNSHIP, MI – Deputies and Detectives with the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an armed robbery that occurred yesterday morning, Tuesday, April 5th, 2016, in the 4800 block of 118th Avenue in Clyde Twp.
Deputies were called to the scene yesterday morning at 8:52 am after the victim contacted 911 Central Dispatch to report a robbery. The victim was home alone when 2 suspects forced their way into her home around 8:45 am.
The suspects were wearing dark clothing and dark hoodies, as well as face masks and gloves. The suspects were armed with knives. One of the suspects held the victim down while the other ransacked the home. The victim’s 2 dogs (German Shepard and Black Lab) attempted to protect the victim and were stabbed by one of the suspects. One of the dogs died at the scene and the other died a short time later after being transported to a veterinarian.
The victim did not sustain injuries during the robbery and the suspect fled in a silver colored smaller passenger car. One of the suspects may have injuries consistent with being scratched and bitten by a dog.
