TROY, MI – On Thursday, May 19th, 2016, at approximately 10:26 p.m., the operator of a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle crashed in the area of Big Beaver and Daley and was killed. Prior to the crash, the operator was witnessed driving erratically in and out of traffic with two others on motorcycles.
The man was traveling eastbound on Big Beaver Road when he lost control and collided with a curb on the south side of the roadway. The operator was ejected from the motorcycle, struck a sign, which severed his arm. He then landed several feet from the location of the accident. The operator was pronounced dead on scene.
The operator is identified as a 25-year-old male from Romeo. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending family notifications.
The operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The other motorcycle operators accompanying the deceased were not involved in the crash and are uninjured.
The crash was investigated by the Troy Police Department along with the South Oakland County Crash Investigation Team (SOCCIT). Eastbound Big Beaver Rd. was closed for approximately four hours for the investigation.
