COLFAX TOWNSHIP, MI – This morning, Thursday, June 2nd, 2016, at 10:51 a.m., the Huron County Sheriff’s Office responded to Pinnebog Rd. and Richardson Rd. in Colfax Twp., which ended up being the scene of a double fatality traffic accident.
The investigation is indicating that a Ford Ranger pickup occupied by a male driver and a male and female passenger, failed to yield as it pulled into the path of a loaded northbound 2006 cement mixer.
Christopher C. Whisenant, 24-years-old, of Deford and Audrie A. Dorsch, 19-years-old, of Elkton, passengers of the Ford Ranger killed in the crash. Chris Whisenant and Audrie Dorsch were dating at the time of the accident. The two were expecting a child together. They were friends of the driver, Andrew Trinity.
Andrew J. Trinity, 23-years-old, of Walled Lake, was taken to the Huron Medical Center by Central Huron Ambulance and stabilized, then flown to a Saginaw area hospital in serious condition. He remains hospitalized. All had to be removed by the Bad Axe Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.
The driver of the cement mixer, Daniel R. Slocum, 45-years-old, of Sebewaing, was not injured.
Huron County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigators processed the scene and the road was reopened about 3 hours later.
The accident remains under investigation.

Obituary for Christopher Whisenant
Christopher C. Whisenant, 24, of Elkton died following an automobile accident Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Huron County. He was born May 24, 1992 in Tawas City to David George Whisenant and Michelle Marie Lansdowne Whisenant.
Chris was part of the track team at Oscoda High School. He worked for Dugginstown Dairy as a milker and scraper. Chris enjoyed spending time with his friends. He loved going to the beach and enjoyed fishing. Camping and bonfires were highlights in his life. Chris was a very fun loving, caring and funny young man.
Chris is survived by his mother, Michelle (Jim) Kosinski of Cass City; father, David (Judy) Whisenant of Oscoda; daughter, Amberlin; siblings: Sarah (Zach) Lee of Pontiac, Meagan Whisenant of Cass City, Lucas Lester of West Branch, Austin Whisenant of Oscoda; nephew, Aden; step-brothers: Dustin (Angel) Clare of Oscoda, Tyler Kosinski of Sebewaing, James Kosinski, Jr. of Elkton, Steve Kosinski of Mt. Pleasant; step-sisters: Kristen (Juan) Kuyok of Wyoming, Erin Clare of Utica, Christi Redman of Elkton; grandmother: Nita Lansdowne of Cass City; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His fiancé, Audrie Dorsch and their unborn baby, Willow Marie also died in the accident. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Edgar (Wilma) Whisenant; Larry Lansdowne and uncle, David Lansdowne.

Audrie A Dorsch age 19, of Elkton tragically lost her life Thursday morning, June 2, in an automobile accident in Colfax Twp.
She was born November 20, 1996 in Bad Axe to John Watson and Betty Brown and adoptive parents, Mitchell and Carolyn Dorsch grew up in Pigeon. After high school, Lakers Class of 2015, she worked as a waitress and was on her way to a job interview when the accident occurred.
Audrie was a fun loving girl and enjoyed going camping, baby sitting little ones, mud bogging and just being with her family and friends.
Surviving are her parents; her adoptive parents, Mitchell and Carolyn Dorsch of Pigeon; brother, Ryder Morley of Pigeon; sister, Jasmine Evans of Midland; grandfather, Edmund Brown of Sanford; great grandmother, Betty Brown of Sanford; grandmother, Martha (Levi Jr.) Smith of Remus; step mother, Lesley Watson of Remus; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Gail and John Phillips and Chris Whisenant, her boyfriend who died with her in the accident.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 7, at Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Rev. Ean Green, pastor, will officiate with visitation from 2:00 PM to 7 PM Monday at Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 10 AM Tuesday.
