BIG RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, MI – The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into an Assault and Battery Complaint that occurred on Sunday, June 5th, 2016, at the University Park Suites Apartment complex in Big Rapids Township.
A 15-year-old girl, from Big Rapids, reported being assaulted by multiple individuals and she and her friends were threatened with a gun.
She was transported by private party to Spectrum Health Big Rapids Hospital and treated for injuries to her face.
The injured teenage girl, along with 3 other Big Rapids teenage girls, ages 15,15 and 16, were reported to have broken into the suspects apartment and were confronted by the tenants when the juveniles were trying to get away.
One of the apartment tenants, a female, 20-years-old, of Big Rapids, reported being assaulted by the girl reporting the incident.
The investigation lead to no evidence or eye witness statements of any other assault except between the juvenile female and the 20 year old female tenant. There was no evidence or eye witness of a gun or any other weapon used during the incident. The evidence and statements from all parties involved including eye witnesses have been turned over to the prosecuting attorney to be reviewed for possible charges.
