DETROIT, MI – A shooting occurred in broad daylight at a Valero Gas station on Detroit’s west side on Saturday, July 2nd, 2016.
Detroit Police have confirmed two men were shot at the gas station located in the 20900 block of Joy Road near Evergreen. The station is located directly across from Rouge Park. A place where many usually gather on a holiday weekend like this.
A 31-year-old man, was sitting in the passenger seat of a silver minivan when a red Chrysler Town & Country pulled alongside. Someone from the Chrysler pulled out a gun and started shooting. Detroit Police responded to a report of a shooting in progress at the gas station around 12:20 p.m.
After the silver minivan was fired upon, the driver sped away. Police did locate the van. It had bullet holes all over it. Multiple shell casings were marked by police in the lot of the gas station.
The victims are said to be two men. A 31-year-old and a 26-year-old. The 31-year-old was transported to a local hospital and remains listed in critical condition on Monday, July 4th, 2016. The 26-year-old took a grazing wound. Police are not sure whether or not that man was an intended target.
The Town & Country took off in an unknown direction, and there is no description of the suspects.
