ROMULUS, MI – Romulus police searched the Embassy Suites hotel for a man who is accused of killing his soon-to-be ex-wife and her friend on Saturday, July 9th, 2016. Pablo Medina was shot and killed by authorities on Monday, July 11th.
He was a maintenance worker at the hotel on Wickham Road. The hotel is very near Detroit Metro Airport.
Romulus police had put the hotel on lockdown as they searched for a murder suspect.
Medina and one of the victim’s were married, but were in the process of getting a divorce. As the victims pulled up to the location in Southwest Detroit early Sunday morning, the suspect approached the vehicle and began firing shots, striking the driver, Nay Martinez, 27-years-old, in the body.
Pablo Medina’s wife exited the vehicle and attempted to run from the scene, but also was shot by the suspect. Both victims were fatally wounded.
Medina’s wife had just filed for divorce.
Guests and employees were evacuated this morning after police said they got a tip that Pablo Medina was there.
Medina was shot and killed at approximately 12:30 p.m. after teams of police searched for over five hours looking for him. They found him hiding in a closet.
