DEARBORN, MI – On Monday, August 8th, 2016, at approximately 12:02 a.m., the Dearborn Police Department responded to the area of northbound Southfield and Ford Road on a report of an injury accident.
On scene officers determined that a motorcycle traveling northbound on the Southfield Freeway rear-ended a Dodge that was driven by a 19-year-old Detroit resident. The driver of the motorcycle, a 21-year-old Detroit resident, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital.
The female passenger of the motorcycle, a 21-year-old Southfield resident, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
It is unknown if alcohol played a factor in the crash, but it appears speed was a contributing factor. The identities of the subjects involved are not being released while we attempt to make notifications with the families.
