Cheboygan County Drunk Driver Causes Damage to Lake Front Properties

ALOHA TOWNSHIP, MI – Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont stated on Thursday, September 8th, 2016, at 9:37 pm, his department was dispatched to the area of Mullet Lake near Tromble Dr. for a vehicle driving around the shore and in the water of Mullet Lake and at one point the headlights being submerged in the lake.100_6262

Upon arrival deputies observed a 1999 Dodge pickup traveling just off shore in the water eventually coming back on shore near Tromble Dr.

Once on shore deputies made contact with the driver and only occupant, Arvids Driksna, 70-years-old, of Cheboygan. The investigation led to the arrest of Mr. Driksna for operating while intoxicated. During conversation Mr. Driksna stated to deputies, he made a wrong turn.

Through continued investigation deputies found that Mr. Arvids entered the lake at a road end and drove through several lake shore properties causing damage to lawns, beach front, ornaments, a fire pit and a retaining wall while trying to find his way back to a road.
