Robbery and Attempted Murder Reported in Monroe County


BERLIN TOWNSHIP, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone is reporting a robbery and attempted murder that occurred within Berlin Township.

Deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Julia St, within Americana Mobile Home Park, regarding an armed robbery/ home invasion with shots fired.  Deputies and detectives responded to the scene and conducted an investigation.

The investigation revealed two male subjects entered the mobile home, both armed with handguns.  The homeowner, a 52-year-old male, began fighting with one of the gunmen.  During the struggle the victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.  The suspects demanded money, then fled the scene after the victim relinquished an undisclosed amount of cash.

Both suspects were described as white males, approximately 20-30 years old, medium build with baseball style caps and bandannas concealing their faces.

The victim was transported to Beaumont Hospital in Trenton, Michigan for treatment and was listed in stable condition.
