CLARKSTON, MI – An 18-year-old Waterford Township man is dead after the vehicle he was a passenger in crashed with a pickup truck in northern Oakland County.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. Tuesday at Clintonville and Mann roads in Clarkston.
Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Independence Township Fire Department responded to the intersection of Clintonville Rd and Mann Rd for a personal injury motor vehicle crash.
A 2016 Ford Super Duty pickup truck was traveling southbound on Clintonville Rd and struck a 2003 Dodge Neon that was westbound on Mann Rd. The driver of Dodge Neon, a 20 year old woman, who is a resident of Waterford Township, disregarded the stop sign at Mann Rd and was struck on the passenger side door by the pickup truck.
Upon arrival, Deputies discovered that there were three people trapped inside the Dodge Neon. The driver of the Dodge Neon and the back seat passenger, a 20 year old man who is a resident of Waterford Township, were extricated from the vehicle. The 18-year-old front seat passenger was not responsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and back seat passenger were transported to McLaren Osteopathic Hospital for medical treatment of non-life threatening injuries and are listed in stable condition. The driver of the Ford Super Duty pickup truck was not injured.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to assist with the crash investigation. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor at this time. It appears that the occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
The names of those involved have not yet been released.
