The robbery occurred in the 8000 block of Maurer Road, Minden Township.
Sanilac Central Dispatch received the initial 9-1-1 call at approximately 1:20am on Saturday, November 12th, 2016 from the homeowner advising that three men who were at his residence at that time were robbed by three males in ski masks and advised that one of the suspects held the three victims at gun point.
The homeowner was not home at the time of the robbery and called after he returned home. An undisclosed amount of money and medical marijuana were stolen from the residence.
Later in the afternoon of the Saturday, the investigation led Sanilac County Deputies towards a group in Huron County.
Investigators from the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office and investigators from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office began their joint investigation. That investigation eventually led to a traffic stop being made in Bad Axe and three search warrants were authorized by the Huron County Prosecutor’s Office for residences in Huron County.
Two of the search warrants were simultaneously executed in Bad Axe with one at a residence on S. Silver St. and the other on Willis St. The third search warrant was later done at the Tanton Estates Trailer Court, in Harbor Beach. The result of the traffic stop and searches were two Huron County men being arrested. Seized was approximately twenty five pounds of medical grade marijuana, a vehicle and other evidence. Arrested were a 19-year-old man from Owendale for felony possession with intent to deliver marijuana and a 20 year old man from Bad Axe for felony armed robbery.
The 19-year-old remains lodged in Huron County jail on a $50,000 cash bond awaiting formal charges from Prosecutors. The 20-year-old was booked into the Sanilac County Jail, where he remains lodged with a $50,000 bond.
