PONTIAC, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Opdyke Rd. near Kirkman Rd. on the report of a personal injury accident involving a pedestrian on Monday, December 5th, 2016 at approximately 7:50 p.m.
A 55-year-old man, from Auburn Hills, was crawling on his hands and knees westbound across Opdyke Rd. when he was struck by a 2017 Ford Fusion, being driven by an 18-year-old man, from West Bloomfield Township. Deputies requested the assistance of the OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Paramedics from Star EMS transported the pedestrian to McLaren Hospital Oakland where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford Fusion was wearing his safety belt and was not injured in the crash.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor on the part of the pedestrian.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputies from the Oakland County Crash Reconstruction Unit.
