Clinton Township Man Killed in Rochester Hills Crash

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Rochester Hills Fire Department responded to the area of Tienken Rd near Clear Creek Drive for a Personal Injury Accident on Sunday, January 8th, 2017, at approximately 8:00 p.m.

A 51-year-old Clinton township man was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer westbound on Tienken Rd when he apparently suffered a medical issue that caused him to run off the roadway. The vehicle came to a stop after colliding with a tree at a very slow speed. Witnesses to the crash called 9-1-1.

The driver was transported by the Rochester Hills Fire Department to Crittenton Hospital where he was pronounced dead by an Emergency Room physician. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.

A 15-year-old boy, also of Clinton Township, was a passenger in the Ford Explorer at the time of the crash and was not injured. The passenger was wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have been a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
