Carjackings continue to Plague Detroit

DETROIT, MI – If you have ever been the victim of a carjacking, it is one of the most frightening experiences of your life. Especially if the suspect is armed.

Detroit Police are reporting that another four carjackings have been reported in less than 24 hours.  These occurred from on Monday January 09, 2017 – 12:00 a.m. to January 09, 2017 – 11:59 p.m.  These are the ones that have been reported.  Others may not be known to police at this time.

A 41-year-old man was approached in the 2000 block of East Seven Mile Rd., at approximately 3:20 a.m., by the suspects who assaulted him, took his keys and escaped in his gold 2014 Hyundai Accent. The victim was not injured.

Suspects – Two – Three Black males, one of them armed.

A 40-year-old man went to the location in the 4000 block of Sheridan, at about 7:30 p.m., with suspect # 1 when he was assaulted and robbed by the other suspects. All suspects then escaped in the victim’s blue 2013 Honda Civic. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Suspect # 1 – Black female, 19, 5‘-3“, 120 lbs, slim build, long brown hair, wearing black clothing.
Suspect # 2 – Black male, 30, 5’7”, 170lbs, black hair, dark complexion, wearing brown coat and light colored pants.
Suspect # 3 – Black male, 30, 5’8”, 190lbs, bald head, light complexion, wearing beige pants.
Suspect # 4 – Black male 20’s, 5’9”, dark complexion, slim build, goatee, wearing jeans and a black coat.
Suspect # 5 – Black male.

A 47-year-old man was walking near his vehicle in the area of Joy and Patton, at about 8:55 p.m., when the suspects approached and demanded his keys. The suspects then escaped in the victim’s silver 2009 GMC Sierra. The victim was not injured.

Suspect # 1 – Black male, 25, 6’2”, 180lbs, chipped front tooth, wearing black sweater with a hood, blue jeans, armed.
Suspect # 2 – Black male.

A 19-year-old woman was approached by the suspects, in the 8000 block of West Seven Mile Rd., at approximately 9:15 p.m., who demanded her white 2014 Jeep Patriot. She was not injured.

Suspect # 1 – Black male, 17-20, 5’6”, thin build, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, armed.
Suspect # 2 – Black male, medium complexion.
