DETROIT, MI – UPDATE: Antonio Stone has been taken in to custody in connection with the murder on Dexter Avenue.
A man was found murdered in a former home on Dexter Avenue on Detroit’s west side on Sunday, February 26th, 2017.
Two men were allowed to stay in the house on Saturday night because they did not have ID’s and could not get a room in a motel. They were allowed by the owner of the property to stay in the house that had no heat or running water.
At approximately 1:46 p.m. at the residence in the 7300 block of Dexter, a white male victim between the ages of 40 – 50, was found lying on the floor in an upstairs bedroom unresponsive with trauma to the body. Medics responded and pronounced the man dead at scene.
The owner of the property called the former home a “community center” for the area.
The second man is unaccounted for at this time. The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a Person of Interest who may have information pertaining to the fatal assault. This Person of Interest is Antonio Stone. He is described as a black man, 44-years of age, 5’5”, 160lbs.
Stone has a long criminal history based on records from the Michigan Department of Corrections. His crimes date back to 1999. Antonio Stone was released from prison in 2015. He has previous convictions for:
- 2 counts of Prisons – Prisoner Possessing Weapons
- 2 counts of Robbery Unarmed
- 2 counts of Asslt w/Int Gr Bod Hrm Less Murder
