Alcohol Contributes to Car Crash in Ingham County on I96

MASON, MI – On Sunday, March 12th, 2017, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to east bound I96 at College Road for a Toyota Prius that went off the roadway and struck the end of the guardrail.

The guardrail penetrated through the vehicle and had approximately 20′ sticking out the back of the vehicle.

Upon arrival to the scene, the car was fully engulfed, Lansing & Delhi Fire along with Ingham County’s Heavy Rescue Unit were also on scene. East bound I96 was down to one lane at 2:14am and reopened at 5:32am.

The vehicle was driven by a 39 yr. old female from Mason, who had escaped the vehicle before it was engulfed. The female driver was transported to McLaren Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash. Members of the Ingham Regional Accident Investigative Team were activated and a full investigation was done.
