Andrew Shirvell is no stranger when it comes to controversy. Shirvell was fired in 2010 after criticizing Christopher Armstrong, who was a gay student leader at the University of Michigan. Armstrong was criticized by Andrew Shirvell on an anti-gay blog, on Facebook and during visits to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus.
Shirvell said he was exercising free-speech rights. However, the panel at the discipline board says his motive was “dishonest or selfish,” not simply careless. He was ordered stripped of his law license in the State of Michigan.
Andrew Shirvell’s disbarment was ordered on Thursday, March 30th, 2017 by a panel at the Attorney Discipline Board. He can appeal the decision.
