BENTON TOWNSHIP, MI – On April 6th , 2017 at approximately 9:20 a.m., the Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit with assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Road Patrol, and the Michigan State Police executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics being sold at 400 Emery Avenue, Benton Township.
Prior to the execution of the search warrant, members of the Berrien County Narcotics Unit and Berrien County Road Patrol made a traffic stop on a man on Empire near Crystal Ave in Benton Township. He was detained and taken to the scene of the search warrant at 400 Emery Ave.
Information was compiled from the past month that controlled substances were being sold from and near the residence which lead to the search warrant. During the execution of this search warrant, officers located and secured one adult in the residence. After the occupant was secured, a search of the residence and garage located approximately 55 Grams of powder cocaine, 30 Grams of Marijuana,17.9 Grams of Crack Cocaine, 27 Grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, Three weapons were also located (M26 Taser, loaded .25 cal semi-auto pistol, and a 22 long rifle. Officers also located $3247.00 in US Currency from inside the residence and additional $200.00 in US Currency which $10 was marked Berrien County Narcotics Unit Buy Fund Money was found on the suspect’s person.
Officers also found an additional 6.25 Grams of Crack Cocaine and $100 dollars in US Currency in the man’s vehicle. The estimated street value of the controlled substance located at the residence and in the vehicle are valued at approximately $ 12,000.00.
As a result of this investigation, the suspect was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail on the above mentioned respective charges, pending his arraignment in the Berrien County Trial Court.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending his arraignment.
