Traffic Stop finds 1lb of Pot and $8000 in Cash

WAYNE COUNTY, MI – On Thursday April 13th, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Michigan State Troopers assigned to the Special Enforcement Section, Hometown Security Team stopped a vehicle for speeding on southbound I-75 at the Wayne/Monroe county line.

Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, troopers detected the odor of marijuana.  The driver stated that he was headed to the Dayton, OH area from Detroit.  A search was conducted due to the marijuana odor.  While searching the trunk, troopers located a pound of marijuana and over $8,000 in cash.

The driver was lodged for possession with intent to distribute marijuana at the Monroe County jail. The report will be forwarded to the prosecutor for review.

Also on April 13th, the Hometown Security team stopped a vehicle on southbound I-75 in Monroe County for a seatbelt violation.  After making contact with the driver, it was discovered that he had no license and had a felony probation warrant out of Oakland County.  The driver was arrested and an inventory search was conducted.  While searching the trunk, troopers located 110 oxycodone pills in a clear plastic baggie.

The driver was lodged at the Oakland County Jail on his warrant and charges are being sought for Possession of Analogues. The report will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.
