Inkster Man Dies after Rollover Crash on I-94

DETROIT, MI – On Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at approximately 9:20 am, troopers from the Metro South Post were dispatched to a roll over crash on westbound I-94 near Linwood Ave.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford Escape and a Dodge Caravan were travelling westbound when the Ford was slowing or stopped for traffic. The driver of the Dodge did not stop and struck the Ford causing it to roll over.

The driver of the Ford, a 63-year-old man from Inkster, became unresponsive on the scene and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There were no skid marks on scene indicating the driver of the Dodge did not brake prior to the crash.  It appears that distracted driving is the cause of this crash.

The incident is pending further investigation by the Metro South Post and the MSP crash reconstruction unit.
