When Officers arrived, an 18 year old Battle Creek man was found in the street with a broken leg. The investigation showed that his girl friend, an 18 year old Paw Paw woman had intentionally run over him twice after he fell off the hood of the car she was driving.
Witnesses heard and saw the car rapidly accelerating with the man on the hood. Witnesses and evidence showed the woman, who was driving, intentionally ran him over twice after he fell off the hood.
The two had been arguing at a home a few doors down about money for marijuana when the man got on the hood to prevent the woman from leaving. She drove away anyway and ran him over when he fell off.
Only the man suffered injuries where his leg was broken in two spots. He was taken by LifeCare ambulance to an area hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries.
The woman was arrested and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on felonious assault charges. No marijuana was found on either person or in the car.
Thanks to the quick response of witnesses and officers, the woman was quickly arrested. Without the cooperation of passers-by, this woman may have been able to flee the scene and cause injury to others. The Battle Creek Police Department extends our thanks to those that stayed at the scene to help.
