2 Men Killed in Monroe County Car Wreck

DUNDEE TOWNSHIP, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone is reporting a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Friday, April 28th, 2017, at approximately 6:55 PM. The crash occurred on Dixon Road, at Wells Road, in Dundee Township.

A preliminary investigation revealed Clint C. Hyde, 54-years-old, of Petersburg, was operating a 2007 Buick Lacrosse eastbound on Dixon Road, when he was struck by a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck that was traveling northbound on Wells Road. The Chevrolet pickup truck was being operated by William V. Perkey, 30-years-old, of Monroe.

After the initial impact, both vehicles left the roadway and struck a utility pole, at which time both drivers were ejected from their vehicles.

Both Mr. Hyde and Mr. Perkey were pronounced dead at the scene, as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. Neither vehicle had any passengers.

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash. It is unknown if alcohol or drug use was a factor.

Assisting at the scene was the Dundee Township Fire Department along with Monroe Community Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Timothy George of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Uniformed Services Division along with Deputy Nicholas Burkhart of the Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7557.
