MONROE, MI – On Wednesday May 17th, 2017 at approximately 4:10p.m., Troopers from the Monroe Post responded to a residence on S. Stony Creek Road to check on a tip that had been called in to the Michigan State Police Monroe Post.
Information had been provided that a subject from the Lansing area who was a parole absconder would be working as a roofing contractor at the address. The subject also had a felony warrant for his arrest for delivery of marijuana. As Troopers arrived at the residence, they were able to positively identify the subject standing near the home.
The suspect quickly took off running through a large field and into a waist deep creek. Troopers pursued him on foot though the field and through a creek, eventually catching up to the suspect and taking him into custody. The 39-year-old suspect from Lansing, was lodged at the Monroe County Jail for the outstanding parole violation charge, as well as resisting arrest charges resulting from him fleeing from the Troopers.
Troopers involved in this incident were K9 Trooper Jack Taeff, Trooper Dan Drewyor, Trooper Jordan Long and Trooper Nick Kaiser. It should be noted that Trooper Kaiser, a 2011 graduate of Bedford High School and accomplished track and field athlete at Bedford High School, as well as at the University of Tennessee, ran down and captured the suspect.
