Detroit Police release video of Officer involved Shooting

DETROIT, MI – Detroit Police have just released video from the shooting that occurred last night, June 4th, 2017  at a liquor store near Gratiot & Chene.

The video contains an image of the dark colored sedan that was released to you last night from the scene. As of this afternoon, this vehicle has been identified as a black late model Chevy Impala.

The second part of the video contains a grainy image and voiceprint of the wanted person believed to have taken the officer and suspect weapons. Detectives received information that once shot the officer dialed 911 and while giving his location and status, the person in the video is heard attempting to assist the officer by taking his phone and talking to the 911 operator. Detectives believe that while speaking to 911 this person picked up the weapons, placed them in the Chevy Impala, dropped the phone and fled the scene prior to the responding officers arrival.

Segments of the 911 recording are being released to assist in identifying the voice on the recording, which will aid in finding the missing weapons. This individual has been identified as the fourth person in this case. It should be noted that it is not believed that this individual had any direct involvement with Robbery of the officer.

Lastly, the third suspect who picked up the phone after the person who stole the weapons dropped it, has been taken into custody and is currently being detained for questioning in this case.
