Goodrich Teen Seriously Injured in Traffic Crash near Mesick

WEXFORD COUNTY, MI – At approximately 10:55 a.m. on Wednesday July 5th, 2017, Troopers from the MSP Cadillac Post were sent to investigate a 2 vehicle personal injury traffic crash at the intersection of M-37 and 16 Road.

A passenger car driven by 16-year-old Reilly Shellenbarger of Goodrich was west bound on 16 Road when he failed to yield at the intersection of M-37.  Shellenbarger’s vehicle was then struck by a semi-truck that was south bound on M-37.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

Shellenbarger was initially transported by Mesick Rescue & Northflight EMA to Traverse City Munson Medical Center.  He has since been transferred to DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapid for serious injuries sustained in the traffic crash.

Troopers were assisted with the accident iunvetigation by the MSP Mt. Pleasant Post and MSP Motor Carrier Division.  Additional assistance was provided by the Wexford County Sheriff’s Department, Mesick Fire & Rescue and Northflight EMS.
