Stolen Property, Firearm and Drugs Confiscated in Cass County Investigation

EDWARDSBURG, MI – Seven people were arrested after a search warrant was executed at a property on Hess Road in Edwardsburg Monday morning.

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on Monday September 11th, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., his office conducted an investigation regarding stolen property in the 67000 block of Hess Rd. in Jefferson Township.

The St. Joseph County Indiana Sheriffs Office Street Crimes Unit contacted The Cass County Sheriffs Office and requested assistance with recovering a large amount of stolen property taken from a breaking and entering that had occurred in St Joseph County Indiana.

During the investigation Detectives with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the search of the property Detectives recovered a large amount of stolen property. Detectives also found a firearm, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Five females and two males were arrested at the house for possession of stolen property, drug charges and firearm charges. The names of the suspects are being withheld pending arraignment.

Assisting Detectives during this investigation were the St. Joseph County Indiana Sheriffs Office, Edwardsburg Ontwa Township Police Department, Cass County Drug Enforcement Team and the Michigan State Police.
