HOMER TOWNSHIP, MI – The Midland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two vehicle, fatal traffic crash that claimed the life of a 60 year old Freeland woman. The incident took place on North Meridian Road just north of M-20 in Homer Township at approximately 11:12 am on September 24, 2017.
Our initial investigation indicates that Lexis Miller, age 18 from Midland, was in the Shell gas station parking lot and was waiting to turn left (south) onto North Meridian Road. Vickie Berry, age 60 from Freeland, was riding her silver 2014 Honda VT 1300 CT motorcycle northbound on North Meridian Road. Ms. Miller didn’t see the motorcyclist and pulled out into the roadway striking the motorcyclist broadside.
Vickie Berry was transported by EMS to Midland Michigan Medical Center in Midland for treatment. She was later pronounced deceased on October 9, 2017.
Mrs. Miller and her three passengers were not injured in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation. Once the investigation is complete a report will be sent to the Midland County Prosecutor for review.
The Midland County Sheriff’s Office were assisted at the scene by Homer Township Fire Rescue and Mid Michigan EMS.
