Bicyclist in Critical Condition after being hit by Vehicle in Pontiac [Video]

PONTIAC, MI – A 52-year-old Pontiac man remains in critical condition after he was struck while riding his bicycle by a hit and run driver on Thursday January 4th, 2018.

At about 12:00pm Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Woodward Avenue near Osmun Street for a bicyclist who was struck by a motor vehicle. The suspect fled the scene in the vehicle. An unknown subject was driving northbound on Woodward Avenue, approaching Osmun Street, when the vehicle struck a bicyclist that was traveling northbound near the right side of the road. Upon arrival Deputies requested the assistance of the OCSO Crash Reconstruction Unit at the scene due to the extent of the victim’s injuries.

The bicyclist was transported by Paramedics from Star EMS to McLaren Oakland Hospital where he remains in critical condition. A surveillance video recording obtained from a nearby business indicated that a light color SUV had struck the bicyclist. The vehicle should have front end and, or passenger side damage from the crash.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance with information to identify the responsible vehicle and driver. The crash remains under investigation.
