MSP searches Oakland Mall for Driver who Fled from Traffic Stop for Tinted Windows

TROY, MI – On Tuesday January 23rd, 2018, at approximately 10:45 AM a trooper assigned to the Second District, Special Enforcement Section, Hometown Security Team attempted to stop a 2007 Chevy four door on I-75 and 13 Mile for a window tint/plate violation.

The driver pulled off to the left shoulder and stopped. After the trooper exited her patrol car the driver took off north on I-75. The driver almost hit several cones and the zone was occupied by construction workers. None were injured.

The driver continued straight, went over the center divider of 14 Mile and struck a vehicle that was travelling on 4 Mile Road. There were no injuries in that crash. Troopers observed the crash and exited the freeway. She was told by witnesses that the suspect driver, a black male, black pants and hoodie, ran from the scene towards Oakland Mall.
