Woman Killed when School Bus hits Car in Macomb County [Updated]

RAY TOWNSHIP, MI – On Friday, January 26th, 2018, at approximately 6:30am, Macomb County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a fatal crash on North Ave. just south of 28 Mile Rd. The crash involved a school bus and an older Buick Century. The 37-year-old female driver of the Buick, Teresa Winquest, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The school bus was carrying two New Haven Schools students; one in Middle School and one in High School. The 2002 silver 4 door Buick Century was traveling northbound on North Ave and crossed over into the southbound lane in front of the school bus. The school bus struck the Buick.

Teresa Winquest, of Ray Township, was the lone occupant of the Buick and was wearing a seat belt. She was pronounced dead on scene.

The three students on the school bus were uninjured and were picked up by their parents. The female bus driver who was also wearing a seat belt was transported to the hospital to be checked out.

North Ave. between 27 Mile Rd and 29 Mile Rd will be reopened at 12:15pm.
