BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI – Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone is reporting a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Wednesday, Wednesday February 7th, 2018, at approximately 5:40 AM. The crash occurred on Samaria Road, east of Jackman Road, in Bedford Township.
Preliminary investigation reveals Rosella D. Pettrey, 20-years-old, of Temperance, Michigan was operating a silver 2005 Ford Taurus westbound on Samaria Road, when she lost control of the vehicle. After losing control, Miss Pettrey’s vehicle was struck by a green 2011 Kia Soul, which was eastbound on Samaria Road. The Kia Soul was being operated by Matthew Arndt, 50-years-old, of Sylvania, Ohio.
Rosella Pettrey was pronounced dead at the scene, as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. Mr. Arndt was transported by ambulance to Promedica Toledo Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Assisting at the scene was the Bedford Township Fire Department, along with Monroe Community Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Sheriff Jerald Johnson of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Uniformed Services Division, as well as Deputy Sheriff Jon Cregar of the Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7756.
