DETROIT, MI – Cassandra Kay Michalski, 24-years-old, has been charged in connection with the death of her three-year-old daughter Skylar Michalski.
On November 10, 2017, at 8:10 p.m. the victim was transported by her mother from their home in the 34400 block of John Street in Wayne to the Annapolis Hospital. When they arrived at the hospital, medical personal pronounced the child dead. On the same day, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a Wayne police officer was dispatched to the hospital to investigate the death of the child.
The victim was observed to have injuries on her head, neck and back. On February 2, 2018 the medical examiner determined that the victim’s manner of death was homicide, and the cause of death was abusive head trauma
Defendant Michalski has been charged with Felony Murder and Child Abuse First Degree. Over the weekend, the defendant was arrested. She was arraigned on the charges this morning before 29th District Court Judge Laura Mack. The probable cause conference is scheduled for March 6, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Mack. The defendant received a $100,000 cash/surety bond. If she meets bond, she would be released with conditions: No return her home on John Street, no contact with children and must wear a GPS tether.
