On March 27, 2018 at approximately 12:30 a.m., in the 20500 block of James Couzens at the Cranbrook House Motel, a 29-year old man reported that he was walking through the parking lot of the motel when he heard some people arguing, then he heard shots being fired, and felt pain in his back.
The victim was conveyed to the hospital for treatment and listed in temporary serious condition.
Scout units arrived on scene, and observed a bullet hole in the motel window of Room #119.
Upon further investigation the scout unit found two small children alone in the room under the age of two-years old. One of the children were found in a crib, the other one on a bed and both of their diapers were soiled. Medics responded, checked both children and determined that they were not injured.
The Detroit Police Child Abuse Section was notified and responded and are investigating. The children will be turned over to Child Protective Service for placement.
