Monroe County Fatal House Fire Claims One Life

CARLETON, MI – A fatal house fire took the life of one person that occurred in the 14000 block of Exeter Rd in Ash Township MI. On Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at about 3:25PM Monroe County Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at the residence on Exeter Rd. House Fire

Upon arrival of the Fire Department the house was fully engulfed. The homeowner who had left the residence prior to the fire starting returned home and reported to fire personnel that his son possibly could of still been inside of the residence.

Members of several local area Fire Departments responded and extinguished the fire. Fire Department personnel were able to enter the residence after the home was fully extinguished and located the remains of the 56 year old resident of the home in the basement.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Ash Township Fire Department, L.M.R. (London Maybee Raisinville) Fire Department, Exeter Township Fire Department, MCA as well as the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by members of the Monroe County Fire Investigation Team as well as the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal.
