Homeowner expected to be charged after shooting at 14 yr old in Oakland County

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – A 53-year-old Rochester Hills homeowner is expected to be facing some major legal charges after he fired a shotgun at a 14 year old boy who had lost his way to school.

Thursday April 12th, 2018, at approximately 8:20AM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 2200 block of S. Christian Hills Dr. on the report of a subject who was trying to break into the house. The caller reported that a black male was trying to break into her house and her husband chased after him into the yard. That teenage boy ran for his life.

Upon Deputies arrival, it was determined that the husband chased after the boy with a 12 gauge shotgun and fired a round toward the him. No injuries were reported.

The 14-year-old, Brennan Walker, was located down the street and stated that he missed his bus to Rochester High School and was walking to school when he got lost in the Christian Hills subdivision. He knocked on the door to ask for directions. All subjects were transported back to the substation and interviewed by detectives.

The 53-year-old Rochester Hills man is a retired Detroit firefighter.

The entire incident was captured on a Ring doorbell system where it was recorded. Detectives used that video to file the impending charges.

The male homeowner was transported and lodged at the Oakland County Jail, pending issuance of criminal charges.

Sheriff’s Detectives are currently at the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office presenting the case. The suspect be may arraigned via video in the 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills this afternoon.

“If someone is running from your house and chase them outside and shoot at them, you’re going to have criminal charges coming from us,” says Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.
