Madison Heights Murder Suspect and Victim Identified

MADISON HEIGHTS, MI – On Thursday April 19th, 2018 at approximately 8:14AM, the Madison Heights Police Department (MHPD) was called to 29328 Tawas Street on a report of a person shot. The male caller identified himself to MHPD 911 and stated that he got into an argument with his wife and shot her. Brian Lytle

MHPD Officers arrived on scene found the 911 caller (suspect) refusing to exit the house. After approximately 15 minutes the suspect was talked out of the house, without further incident, by officers on scene. The suspect was identified as the 44 year old resident of the home located at 29328 Tawas St. Officers checked the residence and found his 37 year old wife dead inside.

The victim was found to have a gunshot wound to her head. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Reagan Lytle. The 44-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and is being identified as Brian Chris Lytle .

Reagan Lytle's ChildrenThe victim and suspect were married and the investigation revealed that their two children, 12 and 13 years old, were at the home during the shooting. The suspect took the children to a relative’s house in Detroit after the incident and then he returned back to the Tawas Street address alone. Once back at the home, Brian Lytle made the phone call to MHPD 911 at approximately 8:14AM. The children were physically unharmed during the incident and have been placed with relatives by Child Protective Services.

On April 20th, 2018, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized a 2 count warrant of Open Murder and Felony Firearm. On April 21st, 2018, the suspect, 44 year old Brian Chris Lytle, was arraigned at the Madison Heights 43rd District Court by Magistrate Wilson. Lytle was ordered to be held with no bond. The next court date is scheduled for May 2nd, 2018 for the pre-exam conference.
